“If you build it, they will come.”

The famous line from Field of Dreams worked well for Kevin Costner in the cornfields of Iowa. But in the offices of many of world’s largest large law firms, it’s a whole different ballgame.

Through first-of-its-kind research, Baretz+Brunelle’s NewLaw practice group studied the initiatives that the world’s largest law firms are undertaking to innovate the delivery of legal services – what we call “NewLaw.” Our research shows that many are, indeed, making great strides to create and implement a variety of interesting NewLaw initiatives – more than the industry may realize – but are seeing mixed results when driving adoption among lawyers.

Report Findings:

  • Over 80% of respondents have launched at least six of 10 distinct, innovative initiatives.

  • 89% of firms responding to the survey are using technology tools for document drafting and assembly, data analysis, and various client-facing work.

  • Comprehensive charts showing adoption rates of NewLaw initiatives by leading law firms.
